ABOUT
At Adduna Health Partners, we wake up every day inspired to make a positive health impact, and we tailor our projects and leverage our skills to contribute locally and globally.
US HEALTH
The US health landscape is dynamic, unpredictable, and influenced deeply by debates and decisions by elected officials and appointed government agency leaders. Forces in government seek to rein in costs as the share of government budgets represented by public insurance programs such as Medicare and Medicaid is substantial and growing. At the same time, federal and state governments face growing pressure to take measures to improve the health of specific populations including tackling the ongoing adolescent mental and behavioral health crisis gripping the nation.
Many believe that there will be a tipping point in some states, and potentially nationally, that results in steps being taken to drive down costs. Governments may seek to reduce health care utilization. Private providers may cease taking patients with public insurance if reimbursement rates do not track more closely with actual costs. Rural health providers and some urban providers struggle to meet their margins and face ongoing consolidation of small practices joining up with major multi-state systems.
Our US health practice works with clients to develop and execute strategies to tackle complex problems threatening US health and to promote innovations to address or solve them.
GLOBAL HEALTH
Significant health care disparities and differential access to quality health care persist around the world. Each country has its own unique context, yet there are some challenges that are perpetuated by poverty and found disproportionately in low- and middle-income countries. Populations may face lower life expectancies, higher child and maternal mortality, disproportionate burdens of infectious diseases, greater negative health impacts associated with climate change, looming threat of future pandemics, and rising incidences of non-communicable diseases such as cancer, diabetes, and cardiovascular diseases.
Despite these disparities, significant health gains have been achieved in recent decades. Life expectancies are rising, and new health innovations – including vaccines, drugs, and diagnostics - have played a key role in recent progress. There are new health technologies in the pipeline that have the potential to achieve further gains. Leaders of many low- and middle-income countries and their collaborators are increasingly focused on identifying and driving creative solutions, strengthening health systems, and producing and introducing new health innovations that save lives.
Our global health practice offers coaching and supports leaders to develop and implement innovative strategies and advance robust partnerships that improve health in low- and middle-income countries.
Why Adduna?
Our inspiration for Adduna [AW-doo-na] comes from Senegal, a country where our founders maintain close ties. In the languages of Wolof and Pulaar, two languages commonly spoken in West Africa, àdduna means “world” or “life”. We picked this name not only as a nod to our connections to Senegal but also because we believe that everyone in the world deserves the right to live their healthiest life, whether they live in high-income countries or low-income settings. Our careers have been dedicated to advancing human health and our experience spans the local to the global level. We like the inclusivity that Adduna represents.
The verb adunar has a Latin origin, adding another dimension to our name. In Spanish, the verb adunar means to join or to unite. This meaning resonates with us, as we seek to join in partnership with our clients to advance their goals.
We look forward to partnering with you.
